The Guilds of FioreGuilds are groups of mages that have banded together for a common purpose. Whether that be in protecting Fiore, expanding their knowledge, in finding friends, or even in usurping the World Government, each of these guilds have a purpose. Guilds are divided into two categories. There are Light Guilds, guilds which are authorized by the World Government and are allowed to operate under the supervision of the Council of Magi. Then there are Dark Guilds, guilds that have cut off all ties from the World Government and are listed as dangerous organizations. While Light Guilds are given the more dangerous missions that the Rune Knights cannot properly execute, the Dark Guilds seek to rebel against the Government at every turn.
Upon acceptance into a guild, one is placed under an enchantment that effects them for life. This enchantment marks them with the sign of the guild they belong to, identifying them as a legal mage. These signs are magical and disappear when the mage leaves the guild and reappears in a different form when they join another. It is up to the guild what its sign will be and up to the individual where it will be placed. Put it in an appropriate place seeing as you'll need to reveal it constantly to show that you are a sanctioned mage. [/blockquote]

The Screeching Owls Dark Guild[/center] While it may seem an unusual name for a guild, it is somewhat befitting of the assassin's that inhabit the guild. Owls are seen as wise animals in folklore and stories, filled with knowledge of the world, and yet mysterious beyond that which humans can fathom. They are associated with darkness, and because of the guild, they have also become an omen for death - for the simple fact that many members within the guild have owls as pets. Not the cuddly, loving pets that most would raise, but partners. They use these owls as distractions, as warnings, as eyes and ears, to deliver messages, etc. As such, many find the sight of an owl to be unnerving, a hint that death is waiting around the bend.
Within the guild, the status of a member can be determined by the rarity, size, strength, etc of the owl that accompanies them. Obviously, members of better blood and promise get the best of the litter, while those whom are on the bottom get the runts and such.
As a whole, the guild is ruthless and moral-less, accepting any contract that offers them coin. Life has no value to them, and gold is thicker than blood. Though there is a rule that one must not accept a contract on a fellow Screeching Owl, unless the master himself hands it out, it is wise to watch one's back and try to make allies within the guild, in the event that you might happen to find yourself in a hard place.
The people, in general, do no care for one another, regardless of blood relation or anything of the sort. Everyone in this place has a love of either gold or bloodshed, both in some instances, and as such the guild is nestled deep in a forest, cloaked by magical barriers to keep nosy wanderers and government agents away from their guild.
This guild has been established for many generations, having been passed down a long line of assassin's of the Rockwell bloodline, it has been terrorizing Fiore for hundreds of years. Of the original members of the guild, whom are obviously long dead, three bloodlines remain. These three families are considered the fiercest, of the guild, and are perhaps equally notorious. They are currently the backbone of the guild, accepting the most missions, bringing in the most gold, and keeping the other members in line. These thee family names are: Rockwell, Lachlan, and Aquila.
The exact location of the guild is largely unknown, and members have a habit of popping up all over Fiore, but it is rumored to exist somewhere amongst the mountains and forests in the Western part of Fiore.
It is said, that to make a request from the Screeching Owls, one must chant a certain incantation in the dead of the night - at which point they are visited by a large owl, a mighty horned owl with massive wings and sharp talons. To this owl, they must give their request (written on a piece of paper), as well as any details on what they wish to be done (get a message across, make the target suffer, etc) and as quickly as the owl appears, it disappears with the request. The only way to know for certain if the mission was accepted, is to hear of the target suddenly dieing under suspicious circumstances, or the moment when the guild comes looking for their payment. But hey, those are just rumors, right?

Dragon's Bane Dark Guild
A fierce name for a fierce guild (whom seem to believe that they are strong enough to take down one of the dragons of legends, hence the name). The members of this guild despise the law, those who uphold it, those who preach it, and those whom get in their way while they are trying to break it. They seem to have an equal hate towards both the government and light guilds, though they more openly attack members of light guilds than the government, for obvious reasons.
This dark guild holds all sorts of law breaking mages, from slavers, to loan sharks, to outright murderers - the scum of society from all walks of life have all pooled in this guild, where the guild master's word is law. Aside his commands, this guild is lawless. Members are sometimes as cruel to each other as to those on the outside, but it is not impossible to form bonds of friendship - even if they are built on sharing a liking of doing illegal things.
As with other dark guilds, it is not located directly within a town, nor does it work directly with any other guild - though it is said to have a peace treaty with several other dark guilds, all whom wish to obliterate the light guilds in hope of encouraging a world filled with anarchy. A world in which they can have complete control, where they can do whatever they want to, when they want to, how they want to. They lust for power, and are willing to give up their humanity in order to try to obtain it, but what they ultimately wish to obtain, is the secrets to the powerful lost magic, the art of Dragon Slaying.
To join this guild is simple, as they are a mere dark guild. One must simply ask to join the guild, and prove to the master that they are truly a 'Dragon brother(or sister),' which is how they sometimes refer to one another. To do this, they must take the initiate to impress the guild - which generally involves messing with light guilds and their members.

EBON WING Dark Guild
Ebon Wing is a guild that recently sprouted once more in the lands of Fiore. It is a large guild that consists of five Branch Masters and the Guild Master residing over all of them. Ebon Wing has expanded to the point where it has a foothold in every section of Fiore. Each branch is thus named based off where thy are located in Fiore. The Northern Wing, for example, would be in the North while the Southern Wing would be in the south. Also, to each of the Elite mages in the group (Advanced level or higher), they are given titles within the guild. Each title describes the person in a single word, typically based on the magic he carries, and ends it with Wing. the Ebon Wing is both the name of the guild and the nickname of the guild master. Really, there's no significance about this other than the mages, though elite, are very simple and unoriginal.
The Ebon Wing oversees all of the guild's coming an goings. He often moves about, visiting the different head quarters as well as taking on higher tasks that he appoints himself, protecting the guild while progressing with his plots. He is respected and feared and commands such respect. Under him are the Shadow, Crystalline, Crimson, Azure, and Alabaster Wings. Each of them are located respectively in the North, South, East, West, and Central Fiore. Under each of the wings are captains which make up the intermediate mages. Under them are the grunts who are the trainee and average mages.
Ebon Wing stands for one purpose, and one purpose alone. The destruction of the World Government. They see it as an evil and corrupt thing that uses mages as their lap dogs to serve them without question. The mages, tired of being treated as slaves, are revolting, coming together to rise against the Humans and take their place as the masters of their own world. Doing so, they will stop at nothing to ensure this goal is attained. Attacking towns with Rune Knight barracks in it. Kidnapping a group of Humans to get at a single important leader of the World Government. In their actions, they put the entire land in a state of chaos. Join their ranks and fight for a new future. Or fight against them and die for the enemy of mages.

Illegal Mages -----
Not necessarily a guild, but a state of being. These mages don't associate themselves to a guild. Either they don't know they are mages, or simply don't wish to affiliate themselves to a guild. Regardless, they are pursued by bounty hunters and are feared by civilians. They are constantly in hiding and use of their magic powers in public is a dangerous feat. Illegal Mages can be identified by their lack of a guild symbol on their person.
